Throttle Body Removal and Installation

Do not insert your fingers into the installed throttle body when you turn the vehicle to the ON mode, or while the vehicle is in ON mode. If you do, you will seriously injure your fingers if the throttle valve is activated.

NOTE:
If you are replacing the throttle body, do the all procedures.
If you are removing the throttle body, do 3rd procedure (Throttle Body - Remove) through 4th procedure (All Removed Parts - Install).

2. TP POSITION CHECK - Select

1.
Select the INSPECTION MENU on the HDS.

2.
Do the TP POSITION CHECK in the ETCS TEST.

3.
Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

4.
Turn the vehicle to the ON mode, and wait 2 seconds without pressing the accelerator pedal.

3. Throttle Body - Remove

1.
Remove the intake air duct (A).


2.
Disconnect the connector (B) and remove the harness clips (C).

3.
Remove the bracket (D).

4.
Disconnect and plug the water bypass hoses (E).

5.
Remove the throttle body (F).

NOTE: Be careful not to drop the plates (G) to prevent other parts from damage.

6.
If needed, remove the throttle body cover (H).

4. All Removed Parts - Install


1.
Install the parts in the reverse order of removal with a new gasket.

NOTE:
When installing the throttle body cover (A), tighten its mounting screws in the numbered sequence shown.
Tighten the throttle body mounting bolts in a cross pattern in three steps;

Tighten the bolts until they sit on the throttle body.
-2.
Tighten the bolts until the gasket is compressed and both parts are contacted.
-3.
Tighten the bolts to specified torque.

Do not overtighten the hose band screw (B).
After tightening the hose band screw, make sure the clearance (C) is less than 0.04 in (1.0 mm).
