DTC C1040-00: Wheel Speed Signal Error
NOTE:
Before you troubleshoot, review the general troubleshooting information.
Check the tires for proper inflation and the correct size.
Make sure the suspension is not modified.
Check the wheel alignment, and adjust it if necessary.

1.
VSA system DTCs check:

VSA system DTCs check

Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.

?2.
Check for VSA system DTCs with the HDS.

Are any DTCs indicated?

     
YES
     
     
     
     
NO
     
     
     
Go to step 2.

Problem verification:

?1.
Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.

?2.
Clear the DTC with the HDS.


?3.
Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

?4.
Test-drive the vehicle in a straight line at speeds 25 mph (40 km/h) or more for 30 seconds or more with the LKAS activated.
NOTE: Drive the vehicle on the road, not on a lift.

?5.
Check for DTCs with the HDS.

Is DTC C1040-00 indicated?

     
YES
     
     
     
The failure is duplicated. Go to step 3.
     
NO
     
     
     
Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Refer to intermittent failures troubleshooting.?

Multipurpose camera unit check (update):

Multipurpose camera unit check (update)
?1.
Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

?2.
Update the multipurpose camera unit if it does not have the latest software.

?3.
Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

?4.
Test-drive the vehicle in a straight line at speeds 25 mph (40 km/h) or more for 30 seconds or more.
NOTE: Drive the vehicle on the road, not on a lift.

?5.
Check for DTCs with the HDS.

Is DTC C1040-00 indicated?

     
YES
     
     
     
Check for loose terminals in the multipurpose camera unit 20P connector. If the multipurpose camera unit was updated and the symptom/indication is still present, replace the multipurpose camera unit.?
     
NO
     
     
     
Troubleshooting is complete. If any other DTCs are indicated, go to the indicated DTC's troubleshooting.?
