NOTE:
The millimeter wave radar must be re-aimed if the millimeter wave radar is removed or replaced. The ACC indicator comes on if the aiming process is not completed correctly. If DTC are indicated, do the indicated DTC's troubleshooting first. If the DTC is not repaired, you cannot complete the millimeter wave radar aiming procedure:

?
Two kinds of aiming procedures must be performed for the radar to be re-aimed: the vertical aiming mechanically done using a level gauge and the horizontal aiming electrically done using an HDS.
?
The millimeter wave radar has a self-diagnosis function and if the mounting angle of the millimeter wave radar is outside of the horizontal auto-aiming range, it sends the failure information to the multipurpose camera unit.

Millimeter Wave Radar Aiming Incomplete: DTC P2583-54

Millimeter Wave Radar Aiming Error: DTC P2583-64

Park the vehicle on level ground in a wide open space to avoid errors caused by reflecting objects. The space needs to be 10 m (33 ft) in front, 4 m (13 ft) in width and 1.5 m (4.9 ft) in height.

When marking on the floor, use suitable tape to mark the exact locations.

2. Front Grille Bracket - Remove

1.
Remove the clips (A).

2.
Remove the clips and the front grille bracket (A).

3. Millimeter Wave Radar - Aim

NOTE:
Aiming the millimeter wave radar requires the HDS.
Clean the surface of the millimeter wave radar.
Make sure the steering wheel is pointed straight ahead, and do not turn it after setting up the vehicle.

Vertical Aiming

NOTE: The vertical aiming cannot be set correctly if the vehicle is parked on a slope with more than one degree of horizontal slope. Use the level gauge to ensure inspection site is within this parameter.

1.
Put a level (A) on the millimeter wave radar, and pull back the front grille just enough to inspect the level.

NOTE: Use the level included in the alignment set.

2.
Turn the vertical adjusting bolt (B) with a screwdriver, and adjust the angle of millimeter wave radar unit so that the air bubble in the level is centered.

NOTE: When the millimeter wave radar is adjusted on a ground that has more than one degree of horizontal slope (drainage slope), the vertical aiming cannot be adjusted correctly. Check the levelness of the ground, but if there is a continuous slope, then adjust the angle of millimeter wave radar so it is parallel to the ground. Lay a ruler or other flat straight object on the ground and put the level on top to confirm the levelness of the ground.

Horizontal Aiming

4.
Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.

5.
Check for DTCs with the HDS.

NOTE: If DTC P2583-54 or DTC P2583-64 is indicated, troubleshoot the indicated DTC first.

6.
Press the MAIN switch ON.

7.
From the main menu, select DRIVING SUPPORT, then INTEGRATED DRIVER SUPPORT SYSTEM, then ADJUSTMENT, then RADAR AIMING. The MID will indicate the number 4 on its display for 2 seconds, then display NO TARGET.

8.
Make sure the MID indicates NO TARGET on its display.

NOTE: If NO TARGET is not indicated, there is an unwanted radar reflection in front of the vehicle in the range of the radar. If available, stack tires about 1.5 m (4.9 ft) in height in front of either the immovable object, such as a pole, or in front of any object causing the unwanted reflections. The tires will block the radar reflections. Make sure "NO TARGET" appears on the MID. If it still does not appear, move the vehicle to a different location until "NO TARGET" appears on the MID.

9.
Hang the plumb bob (A) from the center of the emblem (B), and mark the spot (Z) on the floor where the tip of the plumb bob touches the floor.

10.
Adjust the tip of the stand set (A) so that it is aligned with the center of the emblem.

11.
With the stand set aligned with the cord, move the stand set out in front of the vehicle until the cord is fully extended 5,000 mm (196.85 in) from the point (Z).

12.
Confirm the result of the horizontal auto aiming following the onscreen instructions of the HDS.

NOTE:
The result of all auto aiming can be confirmed by the HDS or the MID. If the auto aiming is confirmed, the MID will display ''RADAR OK'' with codes 98, 99, 100, 101, or 102.
When the target is out of auto range, the auto aiming is not complete. The MID will display ''NO TARGET'', and the brake lights will not illuminate. If the aiming failure code 120, 121, 122, 123, or 124 is indicated, the aiming target is not set correctly. Inspect the millimeter wave radar mounting for bent or damaged parts. Verify the vertical aiming, and reset the aiming target if necessary.
When instructions are given from the HDS screen, adjust the horizontal adjustment bolt, then perform the horizontal auto aiming again.

Aiming Failure Codes (if the aiming is incomplete)

NOTE: If the aiming is incomplete, the MID indicates an aiming failure code. The multipurpose camera unit does not store the aiming failure code and you cannot read the aiming failure codes with the HDS, so note the aiming failure code before turning the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

Aiming failure code
(on the MID)
Cause
How to solve
120
Two or more aiming targets exist.
Remove all reflective objects except the correct special tools, and repeat the aiming procedure.
121
The width of the aiming target is out of specification.
Use the genuine aiming target, and repeat the aiming procedure.
122
The distance of the aiming target is out of specification.
Set the distance to the aiming target 4,900?5,100 mm (192.91?200.79 in), and repeat the aiming procedure.
123
The aiming target is moved.
Do the aiming procedure again.
124
The right and left position of the aiming target is out of specification.
Reset the aiming target at the correct position, and repeat the aiming procedure.

13.
After adjustment, confirm the MID display and that the brake lights illuminate, and finalize the horizontal aiming (end the aiming process on the HDS).

4. All Removed Parts - Install

1.
Install the parts in the reverse order of removal.
