Go to step 2.

Check for DTCs with the HDS.

Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

Check the following fuse.

Is the fuse OK?

     
YES
     
     
     
The fuse is OK. Reinstall the fuse, then go to step 6.
     
NO
     
     
     
Replace the fuse. If the fuse blows again, repair the short to ground on the No. A1-1 (70 A) fuse circuit.?

The fuse is OK. Reinstall the fuse, then go to step 7.

Replace the fuse. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode, then to the OFF (LOCK) mode. If the fuse blows again, repair the short to ground on the No. B24 (7.5 A) fuse circuit.?

Open wire check (+B EPS line):

Open wire check (+B EPS line)

Disconnect the following connector.
EPS control unit connector A (11P)

?2.
Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition
Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
 
EPS control unit connector A (11P): disconnected
Test point 1
Test point 2
Body ground

Is there battery voltage?

     
YES
     
     
     
The +B EPS wire is OK. Go to step 8.
     
NO
     
     
     
Repair an open in the wire between the EPS control unit and the No. A1-1 (70 A) fuse in the under-hood fuse/relay box.?

Open wire check (IG1 ABS/VSA line):

Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.

Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.

The IG1 ABS/VSA wire is OK. Go to step 9.
     
NO
     
     
     
Repair an open in the wire between the EPS control unit and the No. B24 (7.5 A) fuse in the under-dash fuse/relay box.?

Open wire check (GND line):

Open wire check (GND line)

Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition
Vehicle ON mode
 
EPS control unit connector A (11P): disconnected
Test point 1
Test point 2
Body ground

Is there continuity?

     
YES
     
     
     
The GND wire is OK. Go to step 10.
     
NO
     
     
     
Repair an open in the wire between the EPS control unit and body ground (G403).?
10.
Open wire check (F-CAN_H, F-CAN_L lines):

Open wire check (F-CAN_H, F-CAN_L lines)

Disconnect the following connector.
Gauge control module connector A (32P)

?2.
Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition
Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
 
EPS control unit connector A (11P): disconnected
 
Gauge control module connector A (32P): disconnected
Test point 1
Test point 2


Is there continuity?

     
YES
     
     
     
The F-CAN_H and F-CAN_L wires are OK. Go to step 11.
     
NO
     
     
     
Repair an open in the wire between the gauge control module and the EPS control unit.?
11.
EPS control unit check (update):

EPS control unit check (update)

Reconnect the following connectors.
EPS control unit connector A (11P)
Gauge control module connector A (32P)

?2.
Update the EPS control unit if it does not have the latest software.

?3.
Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

?4.
Start the engine.

?5.
Check the EPS indicator.

Does the EPS indicator come on, then go off?

     
YES
