NOTE:
Use fender covers to avoid damaging painted surfaces.
To avoid damaging the wiring and terminals, unplug the wiring connectors carefully while holding the connector portion.
Mark all wiring and hoses to avoid misconnection. Also, be sure that they do not contact other wiring or hoses, or interfere with other parts.

2. Hood - Wide Open
1.
Open the hood.
2.
Remove and relocate the hood support rod (A) to the wide-open positions (B) and secure the hood.
NOTE:
Install the hood support rod in the wide-open bracket correctly.
Prevent the support rod from coming off the wide-open bracket.

6. Intake Air Duct - Remove

7. Intake Air Pipe - Remove

8. PCM With Bracket - Remove

2.
Remove the harness clamps (A).
3.
Remove the PCM with bracket (B).

9. 12 Volt Battery Base - Remove
1.
Remove the 12 volt battery base (A) and the harness clamps (B).

10. Positive Cable (Under-Hood Fuse/Relay Box) - Disconnect

11. Connector (Engine Wire Harness) - Disconnect
1.
Disconnect the connectors (A), and remove the harness clamps (B).

12. Harness Holder - Remove

14. EVAP Canister Purge Hose and Brake Booster Vacuum Hose - Disconnect
1.
Disconnect the EVAP canister purge hose (A) and the brake booster vacuum hose (B).


NOTE: Hold the steering wheel in the steering wheel holder tool.

16. Radiator Cap - Remove


17. Vehicle - Lift



NOTE: Be careful not to damage the ball joint boot when installing the remover.

30. Lower Torque Rod Bolt - Remove

31. Front Engine Mount Mounting Bolt - Remove

32. Front Subframe - Support
1.
Attach the subframe adapter to the front subframe by looping the belt (A) over the front of the front subframe, then secure the belt with its stop (B), and tighten the wing nut (C).
2.
Raise the transmission jack and line up the slots in the subframe adapter arms with the bolt holes on the jack base, then securely attach them with four bolts.

33. Front Subframe - Remove
1.
Remove the front subframe mid bolt (A) on both sides.
2.
Remove the front subframe mounting bolts.
3.
Lower the front subframe carefully.
NOTE: Check that the front subframe is free of the electrical wiring.

34. Lower Radiator Hose - Disconnect

35. Vehicle - Lift
1.
Lower the vehicle.

36. Heater Hose and Upper Radiator Hose - Disconnect
1.
Disconnect the heater hoses (A) and the upper radiator hose (B).

39. A/C Compressor - Move
NOTE:
Do not disconnect the A/C hoses.
Do not bend the A/C hoses excessively.
Hang the A/C compressor with a wire tie.

40. Engine - Support
1.
Lift and support the engine with a jack and a wood block under the oil pan.

41. Upper Torque Rod - Remove

42. Side Engine Mount - Remove
1.
Disconnect the ground cable (A).
2.
Remove the side engine mount (B).

43. Chain Hoist - Install
1.
Install the universal lifting eyelet to the cam chain case.
2.
Attach a chain hoist (A) to universal lifting eyelet (B) and the transmission hanger (C), then lift the engine/transmission until it is securely supported by the chain hoist.

44. Transmission Mount Bracket Mounting Bolt and Nut - Remove
1.
Disconnect the ground cable (A).
2.
Remove the transmission mount bracket mounting bolt and nut (B).

45. Engine - Remove
1.
Check that the engine/transmission is completely free of the vacuum hoses, the fuel hoses, the coolant hoses, and the electrical wiring.
2.
Slowly lower the engine/transmission about 150 mm (5.91 in). Check once again that all the hoses and the electrical wiring are disconnected and free from the engine/transmission, then lower it all the way and support it.
3.
Remove the chain hoist from the engine/transmission.
4.
Raise the vehicle, and remove the engine/transmission from under the vehicle.

1. Lower Torque Rod Bracket - Install
1.
If the lower torque rod bracket is removed, install the lower torque rod bracket.
NOTE: Always use new bolts.

2. Engine - Install
1.
Install the universal lifting eyelet to the cam chain case.
2.
Position the engine/transmission under the vehicle. Be sure that they are properly aligned. Carefully lower the vehicle until the engine/transmission are properly positioned in the engine compartment. Make sure the vehicle is not resting on any part of the engine/transmission.

3.
Attach chain hoist (A) to the universal lifting eyelet (B) and the transmission hanger (C), then lift the engine/transmission until it is securely supported by the chain hoist.

3. Transmission Mount Bracket Mounting Bolt and Nut - Loosely Install
1.
Loosely install new transmission mount bolt and nuts (A).
2.
Connect the ground cable (B).

4. Engine - Support
1.
Lift and support the engine with a jack and a wood block under the oil pan.

5. Chain Hoist and Universal Lifting Eyelet - Remove


6. Side Engine Mount - Loosely Install
1.
Install the side engine mount (A).
2.
Tighten the side engine mount mounting bolts (B).
3.
Loosely install new side engine mount bracket mounting bolt and nut (C).
4.
Connect the ground cable (D).

7. Upper Torque Rod - Loosely Install

8. Vehicle - Lift
1.
Raise the vehicle.

9. Front Subframe - Support
1.
Attach the subframe adapter to the front subframe by looping the strap (A) over the front of the front subframe, then secure the strap with the stop (B), then tighten the wing nut (C).
2.
Raise the transmission jack and line up the slots in the subframe adapter arms with the bolt holes on the jack base, then securely attach them with four bolts.

10. Front Subframe - Install
1.
Loosely install new front subframe mounting bolts.
2.
Remove the subframe adapter from the front subframe.


11. Engine - Support
1.
Lift and support the engine with a transmission jack and a wood block under the oil pan.

12. Lower Torque Rod Mounting Bolt - Loosen and Loosely Install
1.
Loosen the lower torque rod mounting bolt (A).
2.
Loosely install new lower torque rod mounting bolts (B).

13. Front Engine Mount Mounting Bolt - Loosely Install
1.
Loosely install new front engine mount mounting bolt.

22. Lower Radiator Hose - Connect

25. Vehicle - Lift
1.
Lower the vehicle.

27. A/C Compressor - Install

30. Heater Hose and Upper Radiator Hose - Connect
1.
Connect the heater hoses (A) and the upper radiator hose (B).

31. EVAP Canister Purge Hose and Brake Booster Vacuum Hose - Connect
1.
Connect the EVAP canister purge hose (A) and the brake booster vacuum hose (B).

33. Harness Holder - Install

34. Connector (Engine Wire Harness) - Connect
1.
Connect the connectors (A), and install the harness clamps (B).

35. Positive Cable (Under-Hood Fuse/Relay Box) - Connect

36. 12 Volt Battery Base - Install
1.
Install the 12 volt battery base (A) and the harness clamps (B).

37. PCM With Bracket - Install
1.
Install the PCM with bracket (A).
2.
Install the harness clamps (B).


38. Intake Air Pipe - Install

39. Intake Air Duct - Install

42. Fuel Leak - Check
1.
Turn the vehicle to the ON mode, but do not operate the starter. After the fuel pump runs for about 2 seconds, the fuel rail will be pressurized. Repeat these two or three times, then check for fuel leakage.

47. Fluid Leak - Check


48. Transmission Gear - Check
1.
Move the shift lever to each shift position, and verify that the A/T gear position indicator follows the transmission range switch.
